I was very kindly passed an article published in the Sussex Express on 21st June 1912.
The owner of the house at that time, Mr Farrow hosted a cricket match at Dewbrook – now know as Moons Mill (https://moonsmill.co.uk/history/)
At that point the estate was sizeable at 254 acres – and it seems like Mr Farrow had an area laid aside for cricket. We have no idea if this cricket pitch was a permanent fixture, however it is likely that a man who could afford a grass & all-weather tennis court could afford a permanent cricket pitch somewhere in the estate.
There aren’t that may flat areas in the surrounding area so the location is likely to remain a mystery.
Many thanks to Colin Eade – the current secretary of the Blackboys Cricket Club for sharing the original article.
